Pound Road Upgrade

The Pound Road Reconstruction was a $36.8 million State Government funded project to upgrade Pound Road and improve connections to and from the South Gippsland Freeway and the South Gippsland Highway in Dandenong South, with associated local access, traffic and safety improvements.

As a VicRoads accredited consultant, DCE managed the design of the following features:

  • Major widening of the Pound Road Bridge over the South Gippsland Freeway
  • Additional lanes, resulting in a total of three westbound, two eastbound and two right turn lanes onto the South Gippsland Freeway
  • Traffic signals at the Pound Road/South Gippsland Highway intersection
  • Extra lanes on the freeway off-ramp and traffic signals at Pound Road
  • Traffic signals on the freeway on-ramp
  • Improvements to the Abbotts Road/South Gippsland Highway intersection including extra turn lanes
  • Traffic signals at the Pound Road/Vanessa Drive intersection
  • A shared bicycle and pedestrian path (two-way) on the south side of Pound Road between Vanessa Drive and the South Gippsland Highway
  • Design of the flood storage areas in the vicinity of Melbourne Water's 2100mm diameter pipe within the Hallan South Contour  drainage system

DCE completed the design aspect of this project including close liaison with VicRoads and Winslow Constructors.
